As a result of our rapid growth and expanding operations, we are actively seeking an experienced Welding Engineering Manager to join our team. This key role is essential to supporting our increasing project demands and ensuring the continued high quality and safety standards of our welding processes. We are looking for a highly skilled leader with extensive expertise in welding engineering, weld tooling, and team development to help drive our success and lead our team through this exciting phase of growth. The Welding Engineer Manager will play a pivotal role in optimizing processes, fostering innovation, and maintaining the integrity of our operations as we scale.Our regular work schedule is a four day, 10-hour schedule Monday - Thursday, however, we are working Friday and some Saturdays due to launch requirements.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS (Required Tasks)

  • Promote all safety policies and procedures.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Engineers and technicians.
  • Lead the introduction of new welding technologies, tooling, and equipment into the production process (both manual and robotic welding).
  • Oversee the development, testing, and optimization of welding processes and techniques to improve quality, efficiency, and safety.
  • Work with production teams to troubleshoot and resolve welding issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and customer requirements, including ISO, AWS, ASME, or other relevant certifications.
  • Implement and enforce quality control procedures for welding operations, including inspection and testing protocols.
  • Monitor welding performance metrics and develop corrective actions for continuous improvement.
  • Manage welding-related projects from initiation through completion, ensuring that they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
  • Prevent work-related hazards.
  • Support the creation and approval of ISO 9001: 2015 procedures consistent with Standard requirements.
  • Interface with Managers of other functions within the company to promote interdepartmental communication and synchronization.
  • Participate in the development and successful implementation of company-wide goals and objectives.
  • Review qualifications and determine suitability of major vendors and their products.

SKILL SET

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Welding Engineering strongly preferred).
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in welding engineering, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Strong background in welding processes (e.g., GMAW, GMAW-P, GTAW, Stick, FCAW, etc.), materials, and quality assurance.
  • Experience designing/launching weld tools for both manual and robotic welding.
  • Experience with welding standards (e.g., AWS, ASME), and manufacturing environments.
  • Understanding of welding inspections according to AWS D1.1 and the GCVWC Table 6.1.
  • Strong working knowledge of GD&T.
  • Experience creating process flows, PFMEA’S, and other supporting APQP documents.
  • Experience in the following areas a plus:
    1. US Department of Defense survivability design objectives
    2. Industry appropriate Design validation techniques
    3. Industry appropriate Process validation techniques
