JOB DESCRIPTION:

Special Inspections & Design (SID) is a leading provider of specialized engineering services in the structural, mechanical, industrial, and welding fields in Missouri and Illinois.
Our professionals are technical experts in structural engineering design, process safety management (PSM), welding inspection, civil special inspections, and nondestructive testing (NDT).
We are seeking an experienced inspector (3+ years) for an opportunity to inspect and test new and existing pressure vessels, storage tanks, process piping, and structural steel projects.
This position is full-time with competitive pay, medical insurance, and 401K benefits.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your duties will include but are not limited to:
Conducting visual inspections and PSM (API 653, 570, and 510) evaluations.
Conducting fabrication shop and field inspections of welded and bolted structural steel.
Performing MT, PT, UTT, UTS, Phased Array UT, MFE, Vacuum Box testing techniques.
Load testing components using portable hydraulic systems and calibrated load cells.
Writing technical reports & completing Code calculations for inspections performed.
Project management duties for PSM and structural related projects.
Maintaining positive relationships with clients and promoting SID to new clientele.
Your home office can be in Chesterfield, MO or in Collinsville, IL. Expect 70% field work (inside, outdoors, and confined space) and 30% office work. Some assignments may require overnight stay where per diem and mileage will be paid by SID.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates should have all or some of the following qualifications:
3 years inspection experience in vessel, tank, piping and/or structural steel industry.
Current API 510, 653, and/or 570 certification or able to pass the exam within 6 months.
NDT certifications or qualifiable to NDT Level 11 in UT, MT, PT, & MFE.
AWS Certified Welding Inspector certification.
Working knowledge of industry standard codes CAWS, API, ASME, NACE, ANSI).
Good computer skills (Word, Excel, and AutoCAD proficiency).
Your direct supervisor will be an API Certified 510, 653, 570 Professional Engineer holding ASNT NDT Level Ill certification (UT, MT, & PT). Mr. Fults can train candidates and certify qualified NDT inspectors.
