Qualifications
16 years and older is preferred for youth sports. 18 years and older preferred for the adult sports. Must display knowledge and understanding of the rules of the sport they are officiating. Previous officiating experience or certification is preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Must be prompt and reliable. Must be flexible and organized, and able to adapt when circumstances warrant.

Description
Interpret and enforce specific game and league rules for youth and adult athletic league and tournament play.
Illustrative Duties
- Currently we offer opportunities to officiate adult softball, adult kickball, youth basketball, youth tee ball, and youth baseball/softball.
- Understand, actively represent, and promote the beliefs and priorities of the Paducah Parks & Recreation Department adult and youth sports program
- Interpret and enforce sport-specific game rules along with local Paducah Parks & Recreation Department league rule modifications.
- Supervise and control the general conduct of all participants.
- Identify violations of game rules and impose the appropriate penalties.
- Make decisions on situations or occurrences not specifically addressed in said rules.
- Maintain a positive environment through the use of encouraging means when interacting with coaches, participants, and spectators.
- Occasionally assist in the minor setup of league events
