Overview:
An amazing opportunity exists for a candidate with experience running tennis and racquet sports programs. We are conducting the search for the Director of Racquet Sports at one of the premier club properties in Wisconsin, La Crosse Country Club. The successful candidate will be an integral part of a high-performing team at a first-class club.
The primary focus of this role is the overall member experience, which is essential to the social fabric of the club. The ability to consistently "look forward" in planning, innovations, organization, and overall departmental leadership is critical for success. Equally important is the need to be visible and highly interactive with members and staff; leadership begins and ends with approachability and accessibility.
Position Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Director of Racquet Sports to lead our racquet sports programs, including tennis and pickleball. The ideal candidate will have a passion for racquet sports, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive environment for all players. The La Crosse Country Club boasts five (5) tennis courts and four (4) pickleball courts. This is a seasonal position (April-October) that offers great opportunities for high compensation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage a comprehensive racquet sports program, including lessons, clinics, and leagues.
- Oversee the scheduling of courts and facilities for racquet sports activities.
- Recruit, train, and manage coaching staff and volunteers.
- Organize tournaments and events to promote participation and engagement.
- Build and maintain relationships with members, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with marketing to promote racquet sports programs and events.
- Monitor program budgets and financial performance, ensuring sustainability and growth.
- Manage equipment inventory, including racquets, balls, nets, and other necessary supplies.
- Coordinate with the Building Maintenance Manager and Grounds Team for court repairs, maintenance, and improvements.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in racquet sports.
Qualifications:
- Experience in racquet sports management or as a Director of Tennis with a proven track record of program development and member engagement preferred.
- Certification in racquet sports coaching (e.g., USPTA, PTR for tennis) is a plus.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
- Knowledge of racquet sports rules, techniques, and coaching methods.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
