Analyst, NBC Sports Decision Sciences

This Stamford-based position on the NBC Sports Decision Sciences team, covering sports content across the NBCU portfolio from NBC, Peacock, GOLF Channel, USA Network, NBC Olympics, and TV Everywhere apps.

The NBC Sports Decision Sciences team works across sports content strategy and consumer insights to tell the story of the “why” and the “what” behind sports fandom and media consumption across NBCU platforms and deep understanding of the overall sports and media landscape. The Analyst is a key member of the Sports Decision Sciences team, creating actionable performance analysist to support a broad set of client groups, including Consumer Marketing, Programming/Scheduling, Finance, Sales, Planning, and Peacock DTC teams. As Analyst, you will work in a fast-paced environment with dedicated and passionate professionals, delivering cross-platform insights and analyses that support key stakeholders both within NBC Sports and Peacock. This role consists of developing insights to sports audiences and building fandom for NBC Sports and its partners: NFL (Sunday Night Football), Olympics, PGA TOUR, Big Ten, Notre Dame, Premier League, NASCAR, and Churchill Downs.

Responsibilities:

  • Reporting and analysis responsibilities using both local and national TV/ Linear audience data (e.g. Nielsen, ComScore, STB data sets) across the Sports landscape, including coverage for weekend events and streaming data via Adobe Analytics.
  • Collect, analyze and interpret both linear and streaming data for recurring reports as well as ad hoc requests, highlighting the performance of NBC Sports properties and the broader sports landscape.
  • Bring a fresh perspective to departmental daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly reporting, helping to position analysis in a creative and concise manner.
  • Build and synthesize data into dashboards that measure sports property health.
  • Proactively contribute to analysis and creation of projects and presentations. Collaborate with peers to ensure uniformity of departmental reporting standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members in the evaluation of new technology and systems to help modernize and streamline workflow.
  • Generate ad-hoc analyses to answer critical and time-sensitive business questions, identifying areas of strategic opportunity.
  • Help contribute to a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work culture at NBC Sports and across the NBCUniversal organization.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in media, Communications, Statistics, Finance or related field
  • Less than 2 years’ experience in media research, preferably in Sports and streaming
  • Prior experience with TV/ Linear measurement systems (Nielsen: NPower, NNTV) and alternative linear measurement is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in SQL, Tableau, Adobe Analytics, and knowledge of coding languages is a plus
  • Intellectual curiosity, analytical abilities and a passion for sports and media
  • Self-starter, team player and ability to work independently, handle multiple assignments at once in a fast-paced environment, and willingness to learn
  • Comfortable communicating both verbally and in writing to all levels within the organization
  • Experience with statistical modeling and/or advanced data science techniques is a plus

Additional Requirements:

  • This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
