Job Description

We are an independently-owned pediatric practice in central Austin, seeking a Registered Nurse to join our team. This role involves providing professional nursing care for our patients including treatment, medication administration, and medical care evaluation. Our environment is a primary care setting, serving newborns through adolescents. Our clinic nurses are responsible for basic diagnostic procedures (occasional urine catheterizations or blood draws), administering injectable medications and vaccines, placing/reading TB tests, immunization education, prescription refills, and completion of clinical forms needed. The ideal candidate would also have experience in pediatric phone triage; primarily providing advice and education, as well as directing urgent cases to the appropriate facility.  Most importantly, strong clinical skills and a warm and friendly demeanor are a must in this position. Pediatric experience required. GROW Pediatrics is proud to be a family-oriented, supportive and inclusive place to work. Our team works hard (and has a tremendous amount of fun!) as we serve our patient community with the highest quality of care.

Major Responsibilities/Tasks:

  • Obtains patient consent for care and ensures patient confidentiality. Obtains and documents health history, information on chief complaint, vital signs, and health risk factors and assesses disease condition. Provides patient care based on practice guidelines, standards of care, and federal/state laws and regulations.

  • Executes prescribed treatments and medical interventions, administers prescribed medications, and monitors and documents treatment progress and patient response.

  • Delegates as allowed under the Nurse Practice Act. Refers to/consults with physicians, other health providers, and community resources to prevent/resolve problems or concerns.

  • Educates patients and families about health status, health maintenance, and management of acute and chronic conditions.

  • Documents patient assessment and intervention data using established medical record forms/automated systems and documentation practices.

  • Participates in multidisciplinary teams to improve patient care processes and outcomes. Tracks quality assurance data and monitors for acute and chronic care management.

  • Maintains/reviews patient records, charts and other pertinent information. Posts tests and examination results to patient portal.

  • Remains current on relevant pediatric immunization schedules and procedures, as well as the clinic's vaccine inventory and ordering process.

  • Manages all in-office medications, including maintaining supply and ensuring proper storage.

  • Schedules patient appointments and procedures according to established protocol.

Qualifications:

The qualified candidate will have experience working in a pediatric medical office, will demonstrate a professional and friendly demeanor, will have strong communication skills, and will be comfortable using an electronic medical records system. Handling busy hours and increases in volume with a calm demeanor, as well as appropriately prioritizing tasks according to importance is very important in this position.

This position may be full-time or part-time, depending upon a number of factors. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply, and specify their availability.  These required days may be flexible for the right candidate. There are opportunities to work seasonal afterhours vaccine clinics as well, if desired. Punctuality and reliability are required, as well as the ability to work closely with others and collaborate as a team.

A post-secondary degree is required, as is a current Texas Registered Nurse licensure.  Please send references with resume.

Salary is commensurate with experience. This is an hourly position with competitive pay, and a complete benefit package is available to employees averaging 30 hours per week or more.
