Job Description - RN, Short Stay Unit (3307629)

Seeking an experienced RN for an exciting opportunity to work on Bigelow 12, the new Short Stay Unit. The Short Stay Unit is a 31-bed telemetry floor that cares for a diverse patient population. The goal is to provide quality driven, patient-centered care to individuals with an anticipated stay of 24-72 hours.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Provides competent, compassionate patient- and family-centered nursing care based on scientific principles and the use of the nursing process and interdisciplinary teamwork.
  2. Coordinates involvement of the patient, family and health team members in patient care, including patient/family education, teaching and discharge planning.
  3. Communicates the plan of care and other pertinent information to/from other health care team members. Promotes continuity of care through effective hand-offs.
  4. Participates in performance improvement activities.
  5. Exhibits compliance with regulatory and quality and safety requirements.
  6. Collaborates with other professionals and directs support staff and nonprofessional nursing personnel in maintaining recognized standards.
  7. Participates in daily operational activities necessary for a safe patient/staff environment.
  8. Maintains and updates clinical knowledge and skills based on current nursing education practices.

Requirements for a Short Stay Unit RN

  1. Minimum 1 year RN experience required.
  2. Medical/surgical background preferred.
  3. BSN preferred.
  4. BLS preferred.
