Sanitation Worker - 3rd Shift

Location: Happy's Potato Chips
Hours: 9:00 PM - 5:00 AM
Days: Monday - Friday

As a member of the 3rd shift sanitation team at Happy's Potato Chips, you will perform various cleaning duties to maintain a clean and safe food environment, ensuring compliance with all sanitation programs and policies. You will follow Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures (SSOPs) to clean food processing equipment and the facility, while consistently monitoring for food safety issues and reporting them to your supervisor.

Major Job Duties:
  1. Disassemble, wash, clean, sanitize, and reassemble production line equipment and utensils according to SSOPs.
  2. Clean walls, floors, ceilings, and overhead pipes.
  3. Operate cleaning equipment safely and efficiently.
  4. Follow sanitation procedures for chemical solutions to ensure they are safe for workers, equipment, and products.
  5. Maintain general housekeeping to keep the facility clean and orderly, following the Master Cleaning Schedule and SSOPs.
  6. Adhere to safety procedures and complete safety training; report any injuries, accidents, or unsafe conditions to the supervisor immediately.
  7. Perform packaging duties during overnight production as needed.
  8. Execute various cleaning tasks such as scrubbing, wiping, vacuuming, mopping, and hosing down areas.
  9. Notify the Sanitation Leader or Supervisor of any machine breakdowns during or after sanitation.
Job Qualifications:
  • Ability to be authorized to operate lift trucks.
  • Previous experience in industrial cleaning is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions effectively.

Essential Job Functions:
  1. Understand and adhere to safety rules and procedures.
  2. Lift up to 35 lbs. from floor to shoulder and vice versa.
  3. Stand, bend, twist, reach, kneel, and squat as needed.
  4. Perform cleaning tasks at heights using ladders, catwalks, or elevated platforms.
  5. Push or pull weights of 50+ lbs.
  6. Operate lift trucks (forklifts, scissor lifts, hand trucks).
  7. Engage in continuous scrubbing or scraping tasks.
  8. Reach, bend, and hold static positions frequently.
  9. Use small hand tools (wrenches, putty knives, screwdrivers, etc.) as required.
  10. Sweep, squeegee, vacuum, or mop as needed.
  11. Work in close quarters periodically.
  12. Exposure to odors, noise, dust, heat, cold, and chemicals.
  13. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hearing protectors, rubber boots, aprons, gloves, goggles, and face shields.
  14. Properly handle, transport, and use appropriate chemicals in correct concentrations.
  15. Read safety signs, recognize colors, and identify areas that need cleaning.
  16. Collaborate with team members to complete tasks efficiently.
  17. Maintain dependable attendance.
  18. Complete cleaning tasks within designated deadlines according to SSOPs.
  19. Follow written or verbal directions from the supervisor.
