Yes Job Type: Adjunct Working Hours: Position Summary: The Humanities Department at Roosevelt University invites applicants for the position of adjunct instructor of American Sign Language. The instructor will teach introductory American Sign Language courses (101 and 102) in person at our loop campus and will require the ability to use our course management system, Blackboard. The College of Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences offers courses on Roosevelt’s Chicago campus, Schaumburg campus, and online. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Sign Language Communications or a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field with 18 hours in Sign Language Communications. Years of Experience Required: 1-2 Required Education: Bachelor's Degree Certification/Licensure Required: Appropriate credentials in the field (ASLTA certification or ASLPI Level 4, or Certified Deaf Interpreter: CDI or DI) Minimum Qualifications: Refer to knowledge, skills and abilities above. Preferred Qualifications: Teaching at the high school or college level or the equivalent or at least one year’s full-time non-teaching work experience in the field. Experience working with at-risk and/or first-generation college students. Master’s Degree. Equipment Operated: Standard office technology (computer, phone, etc). Working Conditions: Normal climate-controlled office environment is provided. Job is largely sedentary, but there is a need to move about the office and buildings frequently. Occasional bending, stooping, lifting, pushing and/or pulling is required (typically less than 10 pounds).
