Job Title: Sign Language Interpreter (SLI)

Location:Shorewood, Illinois

Overview:Sunbeltis seeking a dedicated and skilled Sign Language Interpreter to join our educational team inShorewood, Illinois. The Sign Language Interpreter will play a vital role in facilitating effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their peers, teachers, and staff within the school environment. This position requires proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and a commitment to supporting the educational and social integration of students with hearing impairments.

Details:

• Start date: ASAP
• End date: June, 2025
• Full Time 35 hours per week
• This role is group interpreting for students ages 5-13 years old
• Onsite Only, No Remote

Qualifications:

• Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and proficiency in English.
• EIPA of 3.5+, and IL PEL.
• Experience working as a sign language interpreter in an educational setting, preferably in K-12 schools.
• Understanding of deaf culture and sensitivity to the needs of students with hearing impairments.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
