Hamilton Health Box (HHB) is a rapidly growing healthcare startup operating hybrid telemedicine-enabled primary care clinics for businesses and rural communities across the country. The Chief Operating Officer/Chief Financial Officer (COO/CFO) reports to the CEO or President. The COO/CFO provides leadership in all areas relating to the clinical operations and clinical support functions of Hamilton Health Box. The COO/CFO is responsible for the growth and ongoing operational success of the company’s business initiatives, leads collaborative efforts with healthcare partners on strategic and operational issues, and provides oversight and guidance to departmental operations. The COO/CFO collaborates with the senior executive leadership, clinical and administrative staff, strategic partners, and customers to build relationships, monitor performance, improve processes, solve problems, foster a culture of warmth and inclusivity, and capitalize on opportunities to strengthen the company. This position ensures operational objectives and results are in accord with HHB’s overall needs and strategic priorities. The COO/CFO serves as a representative for the organization as it pertains to fostering partnerships throughout the communities that HHB serves and collaborates with our partners to ensure the highest levels of care quality and patient experience while working to drive down healthcare spending and improve job satisfaction for the clinical staff. The COO/CFO is responsible for overseeing all the financial aspects of the organization to ensure its financial health and sustainability. The COO/CFO provides strategic financial leadership, manages the company’s financial risks, and ensures accurate financial reporting and analysis.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversees the day-to-day operational programs of the organization’s various departments and fosters inter-departmental collaboration to ensure safe, efficient, effective, and sustainable care delivery operations across the enterprise.
- Accountable for the supervision of clinical support and administrative staff and allocation of resources in order to ensure the delivery of effective and efficient patient care on behalf of Hamilton Health Box’s high-touch value-based primary care model.
- Ensures that all clinical operations are compliant with state and federal regulations.
- Accountable for ensuring that Hamilton Health Box’s culture of mutual support, inclusivity, and servant leadership thrives throughout the organization.
- Collaborates with the corporate executive leadership as an integral part of the executive team on company strategy development and ensures alignment between clinical practice, operational requirements, and the organization’s strategic direction.
- Supports the development and growth of Hamilton Health Box’s lines of business by working with clinical and administrative leaders to improve clinical operations.
- Sets priorities and makes decisions on critical health care programs, partnerships, and issues.
- Responsible for the creation, implementation, monitoring, and revision of policies, procedures, guidelines, and operating standards to ensure the provision of safe, effective, and efficient patient care delivery.
- Establishes and maintains collaborative working relationships with employees, physicians, clinical staff, and clinical support and administrative staff, customers, and multiple healthcare partner organizations.
- Works with HHB leadership to create systems and problem-solve ongoing issues that affect departmental/organizational goals and/or patient care delivery and establish relationships, monitor performance, and improve processes to ensure efficient and reliable operational performance.
- Works with senior leadership to enhance existing services, develop new services, and manage expenses and successfully integrates new growth opportunities into the company and its operations.
- Participates in developing and implementing contracts with partners, payors, providers, healthcare systems, and vendors as required.
- Participates in the budget process and expense management directives to ensure departments operate within approved budgets.
- Ensures assigned areas of responsibility comply with the company’s Compliance Program. Collaborate with the company’s legal counsel and compliance team as needed.
- Maintain/implement quality control programs; provide for the orientation, in-service training and continuing education of staff; recommend resources needed in the provision of services; identify and select outside sources for needed services.
- Provides leadership and guidance for operational areas as needed.
- Develop and implement the organization’s financial strategy and establish long-term financial goals.
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling processes.
- Monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, and accounting standards.
- Manage cash flow, investments, and funding requirements.
- Present financial updates and strategies to the Board of Directors and investors.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Skills & Abilities
- Ten (10) years of progressive leadership experience in the healthcare industry with a background in strategy, innovation, and operations in primary care, urgent care, ambulatory, or virtual medicine settings.
- Ten (10) years of senior financial leadership experience preferably in Healthcare.
- Proven track record of strategic financial management and growth.
- Proficiency in financial software and tools.
- Strong track record of setting strategic direction, leading teams and works well in a team environment with a high level of integrity and ethics.
- Demonstrated excellence as a leader of operations supporting care delivery and the establishment and maintenance of programs designed to improve population health, patient outcomes, and cost-effective care.
- Advanced knowledge of accreditation standards and compliance requirements.
- Exceptional communication skills and executive presence, including strong formal presentation skills.
- Experience collaborating with senior leadership on budget variances, including justifications and/or developing corrective measures and action plans.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports and contracts.
- Proven ability to foster cultures of collaboration and inclusivity and cultivate professional growth for clinical support and administrative staff of all levels.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and manage both short- and long-term projects.

- Clinical background a plus, but not required.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Master’s degree in business or related field. MBA/MHA, Finance, Accounting, or economics preferred.
- Experience in healthcare operations, project management, process improvement, or similar in healthcare or healthcare-adjacent experience.
- Experience in a startup or rapid growth environment desired.
Salary: $225,000 to $350,000/annually based on experience
