Duties you will be responsible for:
  • Performs blood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques for adult patients, as well as receives, handles and processes specimens for Laboratory testing; Collect other specimens as ordered by clinicians
  • Interacts with patients of diverse ages, backgrounds, values, beliefs and behavior; provides superior customer service to all patients.
  • Receives, sorts and accessions specimens, assigning to appropriate pre-analytic and analytic workflow.
  • Completes computerized tasks related to patient registration and/or test order entry, specimen collection, receiving and processing.
  • Performs basic post-analytic tasks, including distributing reports, storing and/or retrieving specimens.
  • Completes quality-related tasks such as documentation of work, maintaining a clean, stocked and safe work area, and monitoring pending work, as well as escalating priority work.
  • Perform data entry of patient information into Lab information system and clinical electronic medical system in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Prepare all collected specimens for testing and analysis, including proper use of centrifuge and packaging of tests for send out to reference lab
  • Ability to organize and prioritize job duties and assigned tasks for completion within expected timeframes.
  • Ability to compassionately and effectively interact with patients of all ages, backgrounds, values, beliefs and behaviors.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative setting where the communication of current, factual, and relevant work information is required.
  • Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care.
  • Administrative and clerical duties as necessary

Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Phlebotomy certification from an accredited agency is preferred.
  • At least 1 year of phlebotomy experience; will consider candidates with no experience but must have recently
    completed a phlebotomy program.
  • Experience in the use of Lab Information Systems (LIS) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
  • Proven track record in providing exceptional customer service.
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Comfortable working under minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of medical terminology obtained through previous medical practice experience.
  • Willingness to learn and assist technician in laboratory a plus
