The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach works in conjunction with the Head Coach in supporting the 16 sport programs at UNC Asheville to implement all aspects of training including scheduling, supervision, training environment, motivation, and goal setting for individual athletes and assigned teams. The Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach in developing and implementing year-round, sport specific training programs-including resistance, cardiovascular conditioning, and flexibility, agility, and speed programs- to maximize athletic performance and limit injury potential. The Assistant Coach supports, communicates, and collaborates with team doctors, athletic trainers, nutritionists, and other specialists to enhance the physical development of student-athletes. Regularly assesses and refines programs to maximize positive results.

Posting Number T0183 Minimum Education/Experience/Skills
* The successful candidate must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education, Physiology, Sport Science, or related field.
* Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
* CSCCa/SCCC and/or NSCA/CSCS certification required.
* Proficient in the instruction, assessment, evaluation, and supervision of multiple weight lifting techniques.
* Knowledge of use and maintenance of fitness equipment.
* Candidates must possess strong communication and organizational skills to explain complex concepts in terms student-athletes understand.
* Ability to evaluate athletes to determine problem areas (weaknesses, imbalances, flexibility) and design corrective programs.
* A commitment to high academic standards for student-athletes and their ability to succeed both academically and athletically is essential.
Preferred Education/Experience/Skills
* Applicable master's degree from an accredited institution.
* Minimum of 1-2 years of strength training experience at the collegiate level.
* Prior experience playing or coaching at the collegiate level.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Thorough knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
* Knowledge of peak athlete performance areas such as nutrition, sleep hygiene, and productive mental mindset etc.
Work Schedule and Hours
Flexible hours to include evenings and weekends may be required.
