Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Part-Time Welding Instructor to train and mentor welders at Alloy Engineering. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in various welding techniques, materials, and safety standards, and will be responsible for equipping trainees with the skills required for professional welding tasks. You will focus on practical and theoretical training, tailored to the specific needs of our welder fabricators working with materials such as stainless steel and nickel alloys.
Schedule: Monday-Thursday 8:00 am-12:00 pm
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver hands-on welding training programs, focusing on advanced welding techniques, including pulsed and non-pulsed MCAW, GMAW, GTAW, and FCAW.
- Teach and assess welders on interpreting advanced blueprints and welding symbols.
- Guide students on executing welds in various positions: flat, vertical, horizontal, and overhead.
- Provide fit-up instruction for projects aligning with Alloy Engineering's standards.
- Instruct on proper safety practices, tool handling, and equipment maintenance.
- Evaluate and ensure that trainee workmanship meets or exceeds ASME and AWS standards.
- Conduct regular assessments and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
- Foster an environment of learning and skill enhancement in a practical setting.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of professional welding experience.
- Proficiency in GMAW, FCAW, and GTAW processes, with at least one certification in all these areas.
- Strong knowledge of welding codes, standards, and symbols, with the ability to teach them.
- Experience in advanced blueprint reading and weld setup.
- Ability to work independently and manage a classroom or workshop setting.
- Commitment to maintaining safety standards in welding practices.
Preferred:
- Prior experience as an instructor or mentor in welding.
- Familiarity with operating and teaching the use of measuring instruments like micrometers and calipers.
- Ability to tailor training programs to meet the unique needs of the fabrication industry
- Experience with welding materials like 304, 316, 330, 600, 601, 625, and 800
- Familiarity with performing and evaluating welder qualification samples
