Port Washington Children's Center is a renowned non-profit organization dedicated to providing high-quality education and care for working families in Port Washington for over 43 years. Situated in the historic Landmark Building within Blumenfeld Family Park, we offer comprehensive early childhood care, after-school programs for local elementary schools, and a vibrant summer day camp.

Current Openings: Assistant Teachers & Lead Teachers We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Childhood Teacher to join our vibrant educational team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in childcare and childhood development, with a focus on fostering a nurturing and stimulating environment for young learners. This role involves working with toddlers in a private school setting, utilizing effective behavior management techniques and promoting literacy education through engaging activities. Available to work Monday through Friday between 7:15 AM and 6:30 PM with varied 9 hours shifts.
Responsibilities Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that cater to the developmental needs of toddlers.
Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages exploration and learning. Monitor and assess children's progress in various areas, including social, emotional, and cognitive development. Utilize Montessori principles to enhance learning experiences and promote independence among students. Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding their child's progress and any concerns related to child welfare. Collaborate with other educators to create a cohesive learning experience across the curriculum. Provide individualized tutoring support as needed to help children reach their developmental milestones. Manage classroom behavior through positive reinforcement strategies and effective communication.
Qualifications Bachelors or Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field Proven experience in childcare or early childhood education, preferably in a private school setting. Strong understanding of childhood development theories and practices. Familiarity with Montessori methods is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with children, parents, and colleagues. Ability to manage classroom behavior positively while fostering an encouraging atmosphere for learning. Knowledge of literacy education strategies to promote early reading skills among young children. A genuine passion for working with young children and supporting their growth in all areas of development.
