Job Summary The Enterprise Data Director will play a pivotal role in shaping our organization's data strategy and fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making. As a senior executive, she/he will be responsible for standing up Oil-Dri’s data analytics function and overseeing all aspects of data management, governance, and analytics, driving the effective use of data assets to achieve business objectives.
Essential Functions
Data Strategy and Governance: Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy aligned with the company's objectives. Establish data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure data quality, security, and compliance. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data standards and best practices. Data Architecture: Design and maintain an efficient and scalable data architecture that supports data collection, storage, and analysis. Evaluate and recommend data technologies, tools, and platforms to enhance data capabilities. Data Analytics and Insights: Lead data analytics initiatives to extract actionable insights from data and drive informed decision-making. Develop and oversee data analytics teams, ensuring they have the necessary tools and resources. Data Privacy and Security: Ensure data privacy and security compliance, including adherence to relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA). Implement data encryption, access controls, and monitoring mechanisms. Data Collaboration: Foster a culture of data collaboration across departments, encouraging knowledge sharing and data-driven innovation. Collaborate with IT, business leaders, and data stakeholders to align data initiatives with business goals. Data Performance and KPIs: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the impact and effectiveness of data initiatives. Report regularly to executive leadership on data-related achievements and challenges. Talent Development: Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing data team. Promote data literacy and provide training to employees across the organization. Experience Strategic thinking and the ability to translate data insights into actionable business strategies. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Knowledge of Oil-Dri processes and systems. Proven experience in data management, analytics, and governance, with a track record of leadership in a similar role or strong functional leadership experience with a passion for technology. Proven experience in influencing across the organization. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Business or Engineering). Understanding of data technologies, digital data warehousing, and analytics tools. Knowledge of data privacy regulations and compliance standards. Preferred Qualifications Master's or advanced degree in a related field. Certification in data management or data governance (e.g., CDMP, DGSP, CIPM). Experience in industry-specific data challenges (e.g., manufacturing or mining). Hybrid role based out of the Chicago office. Monday - Wednesday onsite required.
