Any PKFOD office location The R&D Credit Director will work closely with partners, staff, and clients while serving as a consultant and representative on research tax credits, energy credits, and other credits, with a focus on research (“R&D”) credits. The individual will also be involved with state corporate income, personal income, sales and use, and other state taxes. Essential Duties: Lead R&D Tax Credit Studies working with team members to scope R&D Tax Credit benefits, perform tax technical research, and interact with clients in a wide range of industries. Provide tax consulting services as it relates to the R&D Tax Credit. Understand common software development and engineering methodologies. Conduct technical interviews, within the context of Section 41, to gather qualitative details as to how client’s work meets the definition of qualifying research activities. Review technical documentation to draft project narratives to document how client projects meet Section 41 guidelines. Address other credits including the energy credits as well as state and local tax issues as needed. Qualifications: BA/BS/MS degree in Accounting from an accredited college/university required. MST preferred. 10+ years of experience working within a Tax Credit practice. Active CPA license or EA designation required. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. Some planning and problem-solving experience. Strong accounting and analytical skills a plus. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to meet challenging client requirements, provide services, and possess strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, and research capabilities. Ability to exercise independent judgment and make sound decisions and recommendations in client-related matters pertaining to tax returns.
