Summary

The Director Natural Resources and Cultural Programs, under the direction of the Senior Vice President Government Relations and in conjunction with the Chenega Board of Directors and the CEO, is responsible for creating and executing opportunities that support corporate strategic goals related to Chenega traditional homelands and natural resources and the development of Chenega cultural programs. This position is in-person based in Anchorage, Alaska.

Responsibilities

· Promote development, and create natural resource related preservation, conservation, and economic opportunities for and within Chenega’s traditional range within Western Prince William Sound. · Implement programs and initiatives that advance Chenega’s strategic goals related to natural resources and culture. · Design, plan, and execute grant funded initiatives that support Chenega natural resources and cultural programs. · Work and collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including elected officials, private landowners, federal and state agencies, regional and state NGOs, and community organizations and leaders to achieve Chenega’s natural resource and cultural program goals. · Determine the needs, budgeting, and monitoring of expenses for the function. · This position will have direct supervisory responsibilities and does provide supervision to contract employees assigned to work on projects that fall directly under the responsibility of this position. · Travel to Western Prince William Sound to support related activities. · Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.) · Minimum of five years’ work experience that demonstrates a working knowledge. · Knowledge of ANCSA land regulations and provisions. · Working knowledge of natural resource, fisheries, and wildlife laws, regulations, and policies. · Working knowledge of granting programs and opportunities related to natural resource management and development. · Experience working and collaborating with federal and state natural resource agencies. · Bachelor’s degree in natural resources management related field or previous experience in a natural resources management role demonstrating proficiency in executing the responsibilities of this position. · Master’s degree in resources management or business preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: · Demonstrated knowledge of personal computers using Windows based products (Microsoft Office Suite preferred, MS Word, Excel required). · Ability to organize time efficiently and work with minimal supervision. · Ability to perform multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while delivering excellent service to internal and external stakeholders. · Successful applicant must have excellent writing, organization and people skills.
