Per Diem

Certified Athletic Trainer is responsible for aiding in representing the Newport Orthopedic Institute Human Performance and Sports Medicine Program (HPSM) including, but not limited to: working in a variety of potential athletic training related settings and event coverage. The certified athletic trainer helps the program by using his/her training skills and knowledge to work hands on with various athletic organizations within contracts as designated by the HPSM manager. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS: Must have fulfilled all requirements of the NATA Board of Certification exam and state licensure or regulation (as determined by the state). Must provide proof of current Certification through NATABOC and be in good standing. Must provide proof of current CPR/AED Certification. Must provide proof of current private malpractice insurance. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, early mornings, and evenings. Must be skilled in the evaluation of injuries, triage, injury management, and knowledge of current concussion management strategies. Ability to communicate in a professional and effective manner with athletes at any level, parents, coaching staff, and physicians. Hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity is required. Adheres to HIPAA, privacy, confidentiality and safety guidelines per office policies and protocol. RESPONSIBILITIES: Keep all athletic training space and clinical areas safe, clean, and organized. All event materials will be supplied by the HPSM Manager - certified athletic trainer will be responsible for scheduling time to pick up and drop off materials for events in advance. Pick-up and drop-off materials based on the needs of the event. Understand the concussion care program and application and use of ImPACT for baseline and post concussion protocols with physicians. Demonstrate interpersonal skills required to work effectively with players, coaches, other team personnel, community and administrative leadership. Provides athletes and community education in the areas of future sports injury prevention and care. Practices professionalism when supporting the Newport Orthopedic Institute brand. Hours spent in athletic training setting/coverage will be determined upon the number of contracts and commitments the certified athletic trainer is assigned based on the discretion of the HPSM. Document all injuries and communications in accordance with NOI and HIPAA guidelines. Travel and a modified work schedule may be required - subject to change. Please Note : In order to provide a more professional and consistent service, there is an option to follow a team/event through the entire season. As a Certified Athletic Trainer with Newport Orthopedic Institute, you may also have the option to pick up shifts as it suits your availability. Typical Physical Demands: Position requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, running, and stretching. Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity is also required. Employee must have normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports and may need to lift up to 60 pounds or as needed. Typical Working Conditions: This is a fast-paced orthopedic medical practice that offers outreach athletic training services. Hours of this position vary from nights, early mornings, and weekends.
