Sr. iOS Software Developer - Health Technologies
Health Technologies is a unique cross-functional organization at Apple that works on inventing, researching, and validating new physiological sensing methods for Apple's current and future hardware platforms and software portfolio. The Software Team in Health Technologies is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to strengthen our team and work on exploratory projects - investigating new physiological sensing methods, prototyping health product concepts, supporting data transfer and visualization from prototype sensors and hardware, and building research data collection systems. Description Work closely with cross-functional teams (e.g. Electrical/Firmware, Mechanical, Research, Data Science, Clinical Studies) in the joint goal of inventing, researching, and validating new health sensing methods and features. Collaborate cross-functionally to understand data collection and consumption needs to support prototyping and research activities. Design software systems and solutions that support retrieval, exchange, transformation, storage, and visualization of raw and processed data through both wired and wireless technologies. Develop GUI-based, background and command-line software through the implementation of software programs & apps, scripts, tools, services, daemons, libraries, components, frameworks, drivers, and protocols. Support engineering and clinical validation studies by developing, deploying, and supporting device-based and cloud-based health data collection systems. Utilize appropriate existing and emerging (software) technologies to solve challenging problems like processing signal data, synchronizing data streams, deriving meaning from abstract data, and creating health and sensor data visualizations leveraging traditional and emerging approaches (2D, 3D, immersive). Share in our team's pride and sense of accountability to deliver high quality, reliable, robust, secure, privacy aware, and well-designed software, data systems, tools, and frameworks. Enjoy and be comfortable with the process of working on new technologies in a research setting, years ahead of product launch cycles. Minimum Qualifications BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Informatics, or equivalent. 8+ years of experience in Software Development. Expert in Swift or Objective-C utilizing Apple technologies and frameworks (iOS/MacOS, SwiftUI/UIKit, SwiftData/CoreData, etc). Experience in establishing, documenting, and presenting software requirements, architecture & detailed design. Demonstrated technical leadership of software development projects. Preferred Qualifications Python or C/C++ experience highly desired. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience in Health/Wellness, Medical Device or Biotech research or development. Knowledge of transfer protocols (Bluetooth, WiFi, Ethernet, Serial, UART, I2C, SPI). Knowledge of Cybersecurity practices (e.g. OWASP). Experience working in Unix-type environments. Conversant in digital signal processing techniques. Understands, embraces and evangelizes software engineering best practices to assure high quality deliverables. Continuous learner and teacher: proactively takes opportunities to improve themselves and others through knowledge sharing, process improvement, and innovation.
