StoryHub . Description and Requirements The location of this position is Chicago, IL Core responsibilities include managing a team and helping guide and accelerate product research. The role requires managing a team of highly technical resources who are researching new technologies and building proof of concepts and prototypes that showcase state-of-the-art technologies for our next generation devices. Be a part of a high-impact team developing technologies that will dramatically shape how people and their devices interact. Scope of Responsibilities: The candidate will be directly responsible for leadership and management of Lenovo Research MTI Chicago personnel and budgets. Focus is in the domain of applied research that enables AI scenario-specific models, with core focus in software and sensor development while having the knowledge to integrate into mobile and PC systems/components. Specific duties include: Responsible for the leadership and management of the research; development and technology transfer of research solutions for responsible development programs. Research and development of products that meet the needs of the company’s customers. Provide the company with significant competitive differentiation against competitive companies. Support the revenue growth requirements of the business. Establish staffing/resource plans to determine appropriate mix of sourcing opportunities (internal and external). Responsible for overall organizational effectiveness. Build proof of concepts and prototypes that showcase research for our next generation devices. Perform research and system integration of software and hardware to deliver in the area of AI, computer vision, natural language processing, context awareness, scenario-specific model development, and other relevant research areas. Attend technical discussions with Lenovo and Motorola Architects from Lenovo Research, Lenovo business groups, vendors, industry forums, software providers, and academic conferences. Write patents and other publications that enhance and preserve the company’s Intellectual Property portfolio. Incorporate new ideas and approaches into projects to improve the design or the development process. Minimum Qualifications: MS degree (required) or Ph.D. (preferred) in CS, CE or related field, or Bachelor degree with more experience. 15 years’ R&D experience in AI and CS using deep learning in academic or industrial domains. Expert in leading team in designing, implementing, analyzing, and testing deep-learning solutions in edge AI libraries like tflite. Experience in quantizing and optimizing the inference latency and memory requirements of neural networks. Proficient programming skills in Python and C++. Proficient English communication skills. Ability to work in Chicago, IL (relocation may be provided). Preferred Qualifications: Publications in top-tier research conferences (ICCV, ECCV, CVPR, etc.). Experience with OpenCV/OpenGL/OpenCL and other computer vision libraries. Knowledge of processor and OS architecture of PCs and Android phones. Embedded software development skills. Understanding of image quality metrics and great imaging experience. Background in ISP, multi-frame/multi-camera algorithms and optics is a significant advantage.
