Director, Environment, Social & Governance (ESG)
will manage ESG reporting and disclosure activities at Bright Horizons: In this role you will focus on three areas: Manage the preparation of external annual ESG reports and responses to ESG information requests from external stakeholders such as clients, rating agencies, investors and rankings, among others. Manage the annual ESG data collection process globally (including GHG emissions reporting), ensuring that data is timely and accurate. Support development and continuous improvement of the ESG reporting internal control environment to ensure consistent, accurate and timely ESG information as well as auditable and efficient reporting processes. Identify, advise on and implement new ESG reporting and disclosure practices, based on a deep understanding of requirements from regulators, investors/lenders and clients. What you will be doing in the role: Work across global teams to manage external ESG reporting (including GHG emissions reporting) and disclosure activities and ensures means to increase information relevance and quality with the aim of positively impacting the company value, investor standings, brand and employer value proposition of Bright Horizons. Develop an annual ESG/CSR Report including information and data gathering, content development and external assurance. Ensure alignment with ESG disclosure requirements and best practices. Manage and prepare multiple internal and external ESG information requests, including inquiries from clients and ESG rating agencies and other organizations, such as CDP, Ecovadis and ISS, ensuring quality of deliverables in line with company standards and positions and ensuring deadlines are met. Manage ESG RFP library content and support client relations with ESG questionnaires. Directly manage the data collection and management in support of all ESG reporting, including readiness for the GHG emissions, CSRD, California and other upcoming regulations, and monitor progress against sustainability strategies, objectives, and targets. Manage the build-out and continuous improvement of ESG reporting processes and related internal control environment to ensure ESG data reliability and accuracy. Collaborate closely with the key internal leaders, data owners, technical functions, internal audit and external assurance providers to maintain a well-controlled, standardized internal reporting processes for ESG and ensure accurate and timely reporting and disclosure of the annual ESG data and information. Ensure documentation supporting ESG reporting activities (including GHG emissions) are in place, follow best practices and are properly maintained. Monitor global ESG regulation and new and evolving ESG reporting and disclosure trends and requirements that may impact the company and its position in the industry and advise on necessary actions to achieve compliance. Enhance existing supply chain sustainability projects. Lead and/or support implementation of projects aimed at improving ESG reporting and disclosure at the company. What we hope you will bring to the role: Job Requirements - Education/Experience Bachelor's Degree in sustainability, environmental sciences, or a related field - Required Master's Degree in sustainability, environmental sciences, or a related field - Preferred 7 years sustainability experience - Required Would relevant experience be considered in lieu of applicable degree? Yes Minimum additional years of experience that would be considered in lieu of the applicable degree: 5 years Additional Job Requirements Knowledge of sustainability reporting protocols, including Greenhouse Gas Protocol, Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Task-Force on Climate-Related Disclosures (TCFD), International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), and Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi). Knowledge of ESG reporting protocols used by various stakeholders (e.g., Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), EcoVadis, S&P Global ESG; ISS; Sustainalytics; etc.) Knowledge of GHG emission calculations and verification and environmental and carbon accounting software. Knowledge of data management and data analytics processes. The ability to analyze data, evaluate outcomes, and recommend actions. Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to effectively present complex topics in a concise manner. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interface and communicate with cross-functional teams at all levels, and with external stakeholders such as regulators, customers, and the public. Knowledge of sustainable business strategies, ROI analysis, risk analysis, and other key sustainability tools and techniques. Organizational skills, time management skills, self-motivation, project management experience, and priority setting skills. Experience in change management and continuous improvement. Ability to construct and direct a network of sustainable business resources.
