Position Information Title Title Assistant Professor/Tenure Track Campus Department Department Department of Preventive & Restorative Dentistry Posting Number Posting Number F00940 Full or Part Time Full or Part Time Full Time Open Date Open Date 12/10/2024 Close Date Open Until Filled No Days Per Week Days Per Week 4 Weeks Per Year 52 Position Description Primary Purpose and Essential Functions Responsible for providing the preventive and restorative preclinical and clinical content within the dental school pre-doctoral curriculum including preventive and minimally invasive dentistry, direct restoration (operative), indirect restoration (fixed), removable prosthodontic and implant restoration care, using the latest techniques, modern concepts and technology. Pacific faculty engages in teaching, clinical activities, scholarship and service. The successful candidate will oversee didactic, simulated and clinical student learning experiences in the discipline.
Specific duties include:
Teaching/Curriculum Laboratory
Deliver lectures, seminars, preclinical simulation laboratory teaching, clinical teaching, and computer-based individualized instruction to support the Preventive and Restorative Department’s pre-clinical and clinical courses. Candidate will teach and contribute to the following courses: IPS II Concepts Advanced Preventive and Restorative Dentistry IPS II Technique Advanced Preventive and Restorative Dentistry IPS II Concepts Implant Dentistry IPS II Technique Implant Dentistry IPS II Concepts Removable Prosthodontics IPS II Technique Removable Prosthodontics Dental Implants and Implant Rotation IPS II Technique Occlusion IPS I Direct Restorative Technique
Curriculum design and course directorship
Serve as a course director, design, lead and manage courses Contribute to curriculum design including integration with the various Helix strands. Utilize outcomes assessment, including student and peer evaluation, to improve curricular content and presentation. Assist in setting standards of care for our Dugoni School of Dentistry student clinic.
Clinical supervision
Work in the Dugoni School of Dentistry clinics supervising student care of patients. Assist in the calibration and development of faculty both in the pre-clinical and clinical areas.
Research/Scholarship appropriate for promotion eligibility
Build research endeavors in which you are genuinely interested. Demonstrate effort in scholarly publications and presentations. Take part in clinical Research projects, sample collection and other scholarly activities.
Collaboration and Service
Engage broadly in other school, university, professional, and community service opportunities. In addition to the traditional expectations for faculty members, the culture of humanism and collaboration at the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry is especially important. Engage in National and International collaborations and activities.
Minimum Qualifications DMD / DDS or its foreign equivalent degree, plus a minimum of two years teaching experience in a dental school as well as clinical experience in all Restorative and Prosthodontic clinical procedures, in particular digital dentistry and implant dentistry.
