Underwriting Specialist - Trade Credit This Underwriting Specialist role will be an ideal next step in your career if you already have some relevant experience in insurance. The Underwriting Specialist manages key relationships and reviews complex transactions for key targeted Trade Credit brokers/markets/industries. This is an integral position that provides front facing external/internal marketing responsibilities as well as management of office underwriting duties and initiatives within their portfolio. The Underwriting Specialist is reporting to the Head of Trade Credit Northeast and Southeast Zones and is responsible for: Underwrite and manage a book of business composed of renewals, new business, and manage day to day operations. Drive underwriting excellence establishing and ensuring adherence to risk appetite, line setting (where appropriate), standards and guidelines, and ensure rating and pricing adequacy aligned with regional guidance. Lead and expand relationships with brokers and clients in North America to grow the business unit’s book of trade credit business. Executing on a structured commercial strategy aiming at identifying new business opportunities with broker partners and clients. Underwriting large/complex new credit insurance submissions and negotiating policy terms and conditions. Participating in and completing special projects as required. This is an integral position that provides front facing external/internal marketing responsibilities as well as management of office underwriting duties and initiatives within their portfolio. Qualified candidates should have: A proven track record of successfully growing a book of business in the trade credit industry. 7+ years of experience in an underwriting capacity preferred Strong commercial/business skills. Solid organizational and communication skills are essential. Strategic leadership skills in developing vision, purpose, and driving for results. Established strong relationships with clients and brokers. MBA preferred. Second language proficiency valued, and underwriting, banking, or other credit analysis experience a plus. Proficiency in software packages Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Cap IQ, Salesforce, internal credit insurance platforms. For positions based in California, the base salary range is $91,000 - $111,000. In addition, the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
