Overview:

TP-Link Systems Inc. is seeking a creative Hardware Engineer to join our systems engineering team. You will support consumer network and electronic products, such as routers and IPCs, and will be involved in all stages of product development, from concept to mass production. This includes initial discussions on product concepts, evaluating feasible hardware solutions, and designing the overall hardware system framework. In the mid-stage, you will focus on creating detailed circuit schematics, designing PCBs, developing and debugging prototypes, and analyzing and resolving testing issues until you produce a comprehensive and reviewed testing report. Finally, you will follow up on small-batch pilot production to ensure manufacturability and participate in addressing production issues after mass production, as well as analyzing and resolving market feedback issues to further improve our product quality.

The ideal candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills and be capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the preliminary assessment of the design solution, which includes design analysis and performance testing of market-related products, as well as DEMO evaluation of the new chip solution. This process involves evaluating and selecting key components, along with designing various microcontroller modules, power modules, network modules, and sensor modules.
  • Create detailed hardware design documentation, including schematics, layouts, and bills of materials (BOM). Work closely with the PCB design team to assist in completing PCB layouts and wiring.
  • Collaborate on the creation of hardware prototypes, performing design validation and reliability testing to ensure functionality and hardware performance meet specifications, including functional, thermal, and environmental testing and so on.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize designs to ensure product quality and produce detailed hardware test reports and related technical documents reviewed, including design review documentation.
  • Follow up on certification testing to ensure product compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements, including safety and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) standards and so on.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, testing engineers, mechanical and structural engineers, project managers, and manufacturing personnel, to ensure that designs are both manufacturable and cost-effective. This includes coordinating thorough testing processes, following up on small-batch pilot production to validate design performance, and ensuring smooth production during mass manufacturing.
  • Participate in analyzing and resolving any issues identified from market user feedback to enhance product quality and boost customer satisfaction. This involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand user concerns, developing actionable solutions, and implementing changes to hardware design to improve the overall product experience.
  • Promote and track key project milestones to ensure execution according to plan, assisting project management engineers in adjusting schedules and priorities as necessary
  • Document and maintain hardware specifications and design history files throughout the product development process.
  • Lead and guide junior engineers in hardware design, development, and integration by providing technical leadership, mentorship, and support to foster their professional growth and ensure project success.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in hardware design, with a proven track record of successful product development.
  • A solid foundation in circuit knowledge, with experience in board-level mixed-signal circuit design, including power electronics or low-power design techniques, as well as DC-DC converters, RF circuits, and high-speed digital design.
  • Experience in design tools such as Allegro Designer, Altium Designer, or similar CAD software.
  • Experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, logic analyzers, and multimeters.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment, with strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail, capable of analyzing complex issues and developing effective solutions.
  • Knowledge of compliance and regulatory standards related to product design, including CE, FCC, RoHS, and ISO standards.
  • A proactive approach to learning and keeping up with emerging technologies in the hardware field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant product development experience, including experience with high-speed digital or RF communications design
  • Relevant product development experience, with knowledge of Wi-Fi, IoT, and smart device technologies
  • Familiarity with mechanical and structural design principles and manufacturing processes.
