The Quality Control Associate I is responsible for performing in-process and final inspections of multiple products prior to shipment. The Quality Control Associate I is responsible for performing in-process and final inspections of multiple products prior to shipment. Using various gauges, tools, and inspection techniques, the associate ensures that products meet quality standards, reports findings, and works with supervisors and technicians to address issues. The role requires attention to detail, adherence to good documentation practices, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspection: Perform in-process and final inspections of products using appropriate gauges, tools, and inspection techniques.
- Product Acceptance/Rejection: Accept or reject products based on established inspection criteria, documenting findings accordingly.
- Documentation: Record inspection data on designated forms, ensuring information is traceable and accurate. This includes process parameters, calibration ID numbers, lot/batch numbers, item/sku numbers, and compliance with good documentation practices (GDP).
- Sample Procurement: Collect inspection samples from in-process or finished products, following proper procedures for handling, packaging, and labeling.
- Non-Conformance Reporting: Identify defective products, write Non-Conformance Material Reports (NCMRs), and coordinate with operations to pull questionable products for rework or quarantine.
- Product Tracking: Ensure that each skid/pallet of questionable products is identified and tracked for appropriate action.
- Re-Auditing: Re-audit reworked products for acceptability and document results.
- Shift Communication: Write daily logs to document inspection findings for reference by inspectors on other shifts.
- Troubleshooting: Assist operators with questions and troubleshoot issues in collaboration with supervisors and quality technicians.
- Additional Testing: Assist with the inspection and testing of validation samples, raw materials, and incoming inspections as needed.
- Workplace Safety and Cleanliness: Maintain a clean, safe work environment and adhere to GMP and ISO regulations, along with company policies and procedures.
- Exposure to industrial machinery, moving parts, electrical sources, and other energy sources.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required: lab coats, hair/beard covers, gloves, ear protection, eye protection, and head coverings.
- Exposure to fumes and chemicals such as cleaners, inks, and solvents.
- High-frequency noise exposure.
- Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds, with occasional lifting up to 65 pounds.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work within a team environment.
- Proficient in reading and understanding standard operating procedures, work instructions, and forms.
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established protocols.
- Experience: At least 1 year of experience performing quality inspections or working in a quality control role.
- Training: Participation in regular on-the-job training related to products, cGMP/Quality standards, equipment, processes, and performance.
