Our Purchasing Agent will be responsible for the sourcing, negotiation, awarding and documentation of purchases for materials, services, and supplies to support 160+ electrical construction projects.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES & SCOPE:

  • Responsible for requisitions on buyouts, rentals/tools, feeder schedules, gear/lighting packages, and KPI's for cost savings and vendor performances for Project Management and Production staff
  • Responsible for accuracy of information including complete description of items, delivery lead time, material quantities, expected pricing, etc.
  • Strategically leverage new and previous awarded buyouts to reduce overhead, lock-in cost, and to align for adequate locally stocked material for the contracted phase of work
  • Leverages Helix Electric's buying power, relationships, and expertise across HEI markets to maximize cost savings
  • Ensure timely receipt of vendor offers to obtain material by the due date
  • Facilitate and manage all vendor to clientcommunication and relationships including suppliers, operations, and project management teams
  • Work with Director of Purchasing on Purchase Orders for all major equipment purchases and negations
  • Updates internal system (CMiC) with expected dates, notes, and appropriate work order status to properly notify involved parties of material availability
  • Daily reporting to confirm existing procurement work orders are on track to be executed in accordance with normal processes and procedures
  • Monitoring pricing and communicating changes as necessary
  • Investigating and determining what/how/ why material came in incorrectly or damaged (for nonconformances)
  • Internal interfacing with regional dispatchers/managers, project managers, and other procurement team members
  • External interfacing with vendors (maintaining vendor relationships)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering or field experience
  • Must have minimum of 5+ years of experience in theelectrical construction industry
  • Experienced with purchase agreements for project contracts of $10M+
  • Dedication to learning, expanding knowledge and continuous improvement
  • Capacity to prioritize tasks according to deadlines and urgency and complete them in a timely and professional manner
  • Ability to browse the internet and use the internal systems and websites as it relates to the procurement department
  • Ability to create, edit and analyze data using MS Office Suite, especially Excel spreadsheets, Word documents, PDF files and Power Point presentations; CMiCsoftware experience is a plus
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
