Job Title: LPN

Reports to: Nurse Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary: Performs patient-specific duties in the area of fertility including patient care, teaching, triage, procedures, and protocol in an operating room setting under the direction of the physician by performing the following duties.

Required Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Places patients in rooms, assists with recording and taking vital signs. Records patient history, medications, and significant changes.
  • Performs all prescribed injections.
  • Performs phlebotomy successfully.
  • Collects and labels specimen as outlined in lab orders/requisitions.
  • Transports specimens to the lab promptly for testing.
  • Starts, maintains, and discontinues IV lines under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.
  • Maintains factual and thorough health care records.
  • Reports any concerns to direct RN supervisor or Physician.
  • Communicates, reviews, and records all laboratory results under the direct supervision of a provider or a registered nurse.
  • Sends prescriptions to pharmacies as prescribed by physician.
  • Cleans, stocks, and maintains all exam rooms.
  • Assists physicians with embryo transfers.
  • Participates in training, conferences, staff development, and continuing education programs pertaining to area of expertise.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one year of technical training. Must be a graduate of an approved LPN/LVN School of Nursing.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities:
• Medical Terminology
• Demonstrate proficiency in injections
• Demonstrate proficiency in venipunctures
• Demonstrate proficiency in administering oral medications
• Time management skills

Certificates and Licenses:

CPR/BLS

NYS Licensed Practical Nurse License
