A Designer is needed for a world class utility company in the Benton Harbor, MI (hybrid) area. This role involves performing drafting and design tasks using CAD software to create, revise, and maintain engineering drawings and documentation, while ensuring safety, compliance, and collaboration across departments.

responsibilities:

  • Perform drafting and design tasks using computer-aided design (CAD) software.

  • Create, revise, and maintain engineering drawings, maps, sketches, and documentation.

  • Support the development and maintenance of documents for construction, equipment, and property records.

  • Obtain necessary information from verbal communication, sketches, marked drawings, field notes, technical manuals, and site visits.

  • Read and incorporate details from vendor prints, shop drawings, and equipment operating instructions.

  • Perform mathematical calculations required to complete assigned tasks.

  • Utilize Microsoft Office software for associated clerical and organizational tasks.

  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure safe and efficient work performance.

Education and Experience:

  • Associate degree in applied science (AAS) in drafting, CAD, or engineering technology (civil, electrical, or mechanical).

  • High school diploma with six years of equivalent experience in drafting and CAD for electric utilities or related industries (if AAS degree is not obtained).

  • 1-2 years of relevant experience with an AAS degree or 6 years without.
