Overview:
Performs independent systems analysis on technical projects; assists senior staff and user with problem resolutions, installations, maintenance, and with monitoring and testing of various data processing hardware/software.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs independent systems analysis on technical problems such as the networking and PC's; installs hardware and software; under guidance of senior staff, performs complex program testing and debugging. Receives inquiries dispatched by the Help Desk regarding system problem determines nature and extent of problems and takes the necessary corrective actions dealing with identifying and resolving terminal, circuit, and network malfunctions, both hardware and software. Monitors and tests equipment including modems, PC's, printers, terminals, keyboards, CPU's, and cables; assists senior staff with installation of PC's; may assist with dial-up modems for necessary computer access; installs equipment received from vendor depot repairs and from the Help Desk. Forwards information to Property Control and the Equipment Control Officer regarding installation, relocation, and/or removal of terminals and minicomputers. Prepares and installs cables for computer and terminal installation and assists maintenance vendors in resetting computer equipment. Travels as necessary for education, meeting, site surveys or actual installation or relocation of terminals and mini-computers. May be required to act independently in response to unplanned hardware or software failures. Performs other duties as required or assigned. Minimum Requirements: Requires knowledge skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of one year of college, with Computer Science coursework or one and one-half (1.5) years of technical systems and/or programming experience. Required to lift, carry and push/pull up to 50 lbs. Requires the ability to travel and possession of a valid Illinois Driver's License.
