Harlem Hospital Center has been a bedrock of the Harlem community since 1887. The hospital provides a wide range of medical, surgical, diagnostic, therapeutic and family support services to the residents of Central Harlem, West Harlem, Washington Heights and Inwood. Harlem is the largest hospital in the area, capable of treating the most seriously ill. Harlem provides over 90 specialized ambulatory care services, dentistry and oral surgery, behavioral health services, and community substance abuse treatment.

Duties & Responsibilities
Under the supervision of an assigned attending Physician, performs diagnostic and therapeutic tasks and renders varied medical services to provide comprehensive patient care in HHC hospitals, NFFC's and long-term care facilities. Provides clinical instruction to health professionals and nursing students rotating on the service, may be involved in research activities performed by the service, and works closely with other Physician Assistants on the service. 1. Orients new Physician Assistants to major duties and to the Clinical Policies and Procedures of the particular service or department. 2. Participates in chart audits and other Quality Assurance activities for the department or service. 3. Participates in lectures to staff Physician Assistants for ongoing medical education and in the training of health care professionals or nursing students if present on the service. 4. Participates in research activities of department, service or supervising Physician when appropriate. 5. Performs related administrative duties on an incidental basis as required.
Minimum Qualifications 1. Current New York State registration as a Physician Assistant; and, 2. Current certification issued by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA); and, 3. Two years of full time, satisfactory clinical experiences as a Physician Assistant.
