A Packaging Prototype Desktop Artist is the bridges the gap between design intent and physical prototype creation. Responsible for converting and transforming flat artwork into dimensional packaging mechanical artwork. To be successful in this position, you must be a passionate about packaging creation from artwork to hands on prototype creation. The Packaging Prototype Production Artist is an active member of the cross-functional packaging team, giving and receiving feedback and sharing ideas and production ideas.
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Create and adapt packaging artwork for comps, mockups and prototypes based on client's design intend and requirements
- Adapt flat artwork into 3D physical packaging
- Output color managed output and media ranging from poly, vinyl, paperboard, foil to paperboard which simulate actual printed production
- Cut, fold, score and assemble packaging to ensure mechanical artwork
- Create and develop custom color swatches for prototypes though various RIPS, Printers and substrates
- 2-3 years' experience with packaging graphics and design production management
- Good understanding of package design, pre-press, and/or print production processes is a plus
- CPG knowledge or experience is a plus
- Graphics production technology background or experience is a plus
- Deep understanding of inkjet, solvent, and UV print methods
