Job Title: Nuclear Medicine Technologist Job Specialty: Nuclear Medicine Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday-Friday Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week Experience: See below License: IEMA Certifications: - Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) - Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) OR American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (N) Must-Have: - Basic reading, writing, and oral English skills - Accountability - Multicultural sensitivity - Customer/patient-focused approach - Basic computer knowledge - Critical thinking skills and independent judgment - Ability to maintain confidentiality - Professional and friendly demeanor Job Description: - Perform routine and specialized nuclear medicine procedures for patients of all ages under the direction of a radiologist. - Exhibit competency in diagnostic imaging and radionuclide therapy. - Complete scheduling, ordering radiopharmaceuticals, and patient preparation guidelines. - Administer and document all radiopharmaceuticals. - Maintain quality care throughout procedures, practicing radiation protection to keep personal exposure ALARA. - Perform required equipment quality control and document quality control records. - Follow all regulations regarding radioactive materials and safety documentation. - Obtain adequate lab specimens for testing and perform patient bedside lab testing in compliance with orders and procedures. - Maintain knowledge of equipment and procedures across multiple areas of the department. - Troubleshoot and ensure the safety and proper operation of equipment. - Keep work area clean, stocked, and organized with necessary supplies. - Receive and prepare radioactive packages, manage doses, and manage radioactive waste for storage. - Perform thyroid ablations and therapies, fulfilling documentation requirements. - Execute Schilling's and Red Cell mass procedures. - Address patient handling issues with a problem-solving approach, using lift equipment appropriately to ensure safety. - Support the department's functions to meet patient expectations and needs efficiently. - Process films and paperwork promptly to ensure timely reporting. - Coordinate patient flow, ensuring efficient care by managing multiple patients safely. - Enter patient information into the RIS system and other records accurately for efficient throughput. - Maintain and coordinate the QA, QC, and QI programs. - Share knowledge and guide technologists and students in department protocols and procedures. - Foster a professional and respectful learning environment for technologists and students.
