VP, Accounting Date: Sep 27, 2022 Location: Baltimore, MD, US, 21230 Company: Under Armour Position Summary The Vice President, Accounting will be responsible for building, mentoring, and growing the Global Accounting team, taking a hands-on role in evaluating and improving existing accounting processes, applying knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and representing the accounting department to internal and external business partners. Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer and SVP Finance and serving as a key member of the broader Controllership team, the incumbent will work cross functionally and with regions to gain alignment, build, manage and report on all accounting matters. The result is a compelling, best-in-class Accounting function that drives brand and supports the Controllership function and the overall CFO organization. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Managing the day-to-day GL Accounting functions, drive process improvements, manage the team, and partner with the rest of the accounting and finance to perform as a unified world class business partner to the rest of the organization. Manage the month-end close process, the close schedule and general ledger tasks. Lead the general accounting, including GAAP and statutory, managing the day-to-day work and providing guidance, direction and coaching to the team. Assist with the activities of the corporate accounting department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to monthly financial statements, quarterly and annual audits in compliance with applicable reporting standards. Work closely with the other accounting & finance teams, including internal controls, tax, technical accounting, accounting systems and FP&A, in overseeing the monthly accounting close and the quarterly/annual SEC financial statements. Assist in ensuring that the financial control environment is strong and sustainable, and supportive of our business growth. Direct functions including, but not limited to: Global Accounting (i.e., general accounting and consolidations, accounting policies, standardizing them across all regions). Corporate Accounting (i.e., accounting for the corporate functions like HR, IT, Marketing etc.). Overseeing and supporting the regional accounting teams in Americas, EMEA and APAC. Be a business partner to Tax and FP&A in providing insights for business decisions, as well as enterprise opportunities, projects, efficiencies, and cost savings. Monitor and assess current trends and emerging developments within the field and practice of accounting to ensure the company’s compliance and preparedness. Act as the key point of contact for external auditors and lead the audit process for the company. Serve as an agent of change for system improvements and technology automation (e.g., BlackLine journal creation, journal automation, accelerating the close process, robotic process automation, etc.). Approve expenditures for proposed contracts, and legal arrangements as necessary. Develop diverse talent to promote team retention to meet current and future business needs; career development opportunities for team. Assist with technical accounting research and documentation of new policies and procedures. Review monthly the regional/consolidated balance sheet and income statements for compliance and accuracy. Build and grow a base of knowledge on SEC Reporting with the members of your team. Interact with external auditors to ensure that support and explanations for all requests are provided in a timely manner. Provide accounting analysis for complex matters that may arise. Provide support on mergers & acquisitions with Corporate Development team. Champion learning and development opportunities to facilitate engagement and professional development at right levels. Ensure accounting policies supporting US GAAP and appropriate operating effectiveness of the internal controls are in place, and followed, while guiding accounting staff handling of non-routine reporting transactions in accordance with GAAP. Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities) Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance. 15 years of experience required. SAP experience required. Ability to demonstrate long-term, high-level people management skills with a global team. Experience in leading organizations across multiple regions, globally. Consumer Packaged Goods and/or Retail industry experience is a plus. Other Requirements Location: This individual must reside within commuting distance from our global headquarters in Baltimore, MD - Full relocation provided.
