JOB SUMMARY : Responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating and managing the refrigeration and boiler programs for the Company. Responsible coordinating environmental control activities, including air and water. Responsible for managing PSM processes and programs. Leads the refrigeration, wastewater and boiler operator team to effectively maintain the ammonia, HVAC, and boiler systems and equipment while meeting safety, reliability, budget, and environmental and quality goals.
DAILY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES : Responsible for hiring/terminating, supervising, coaching, training and performance reviews of refrigeration, boiler, and wastewater teams to achieve maximum employee engagement. Manage, lead, and develop the refrigeration and boiler team to meet department goals in facility maintenance, capital improvements, and budget management. Evaluate hazards within the Complex for environmental risks and implement new policies or procedures to mitigate identified hazards. Develop and maintain annual expense budgets for refrigeration/HVAC systems, wastewater, and boilers. Monitor expenses and ensure cost containment processes are in place. Maintain all assets in facility, monitor equipment inventory, handle purchase orders, invoice approvals, and manage department spending. Work cooperatively with other managers/department leadership to develop daily and weekly operating priorities. Assign resources and track progress to ensure successful completion of these priorities. Hire and/or recommend subcontractors for specialized maintenance work. Participate in Hazmat operations and emergency preparedness. Develop and recommend new processes/tools/assets to improve productivity and cut costs. Identify opportunities for improvement and communicate with supervisors and assigned personnel on enacting those potential changes. Ensure all company safety policies and procedures are followed to ensure a safe working environment by promoting, adhering to, and holding employees accountable to those policies. Provide detailed and constructive feedback to Supervisors during their shift on their performance and attitude. Attend meetings and training as required. Effectively communicate with HR and other supporting departments if conflict or dilemmas arise with employees in your charge. Manage employee timecards and time off requests. Perform employee disciplinary actions, including verbal, written, and suspension paperwork and all other required documentation. All other duties not listed but requested by Maintenance Senior Management, Senior Leadership, and Human Resources. REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:
MUST possess a minimum of seven years' work experience in Industrial Refrigeration, including previous supervisory or management experience. MUST be familiar with ammonia refrigeration systems, high pressure boilers, process hazard analysis, and process safety management. Knowledge of compliance with governmental agencies, including but not limited to NDEQ, OSHA, FDA, and DOT. Ability to analyze, evaluate, and solve mechanical problems. MUST have knowledge of food safety programs, including HACCP programs, SSOP's and GMP's. MUST possess refined skills in communicating in a courteous and professional manner, both verbally and in writing to all team members. Ability to motivate team members to drive and achieve production goals as well as be responsible for performance management of your team including goal setting and providing performance reviews yearly. MUST have exceptional time management and prioritizing skills. MUST know how to effectively utilize a personal computer and a variety of software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. MUST be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Must be able to pass required physical including demonstrating your ability to lift the required weight for each position. Ability to stand or walk for an entire 8-hour shift. Ability to reflect the values of our company in public settings. Ability to work flexible hours as needed. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Experience in poultry or other food processing plants is highly preferred, but not required. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Industrial Refrigeration, Industrial Maintenance, Maintenance Management, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. RETA, CARO, CIRO, or similar certifications and licensed are preferred.
