Senior Backend Engineer - NYC-Based Data Products Startup
Location: New York City (West SoHo) | In-Person | Full-Time The Opportunity
Join a well-funded NYC startup that's revolutionizing how consumers and businesses interact with their data. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll be a key player in building scalable systems and APIs that power innovative data products. Working directly with the CTO (ex-founder who led engineering teams at Improbable) and a talented founding team, you'll have significant influence over technical decisions and product direction. Compensation & Benefits Salary: $130,000 - $200,000 Equity: 0.5% - 1.0% Premium health insurance Daily catered lunches Office setup budget What You'll Do Design and implement scalable backend services and APIs Build data pipelines and services to power new product capabilities Collaborate closely with product and frontend teams Shape architectural decisions and engineering best practices Mentor other engineers while focusing on IC contributions Deploy and maintain production systems on AWS Tech Stack Node.js TypeScript PostgreSQL AWS (ECS, SQS, CloudWatch, Lambda) React Grafana What We're Looking For 5+ years of experience building scalable backend systems Strong experience with data modeling, API design, and cloud infrastructure Product team background (not primarily infrastructure/platform) Proven track record of shipping production code Experience with Node.js, PostgreSQL, and AWS Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams Pragmatic approach to technical decisions and feature development Culture & Team
You'll join a small but mighty team of founding engineers, including alumni from companies like Spotify and Slack.
