The Role
As a Principal Data Scientist in our rapidly growing Technology Group, you will provide technical leadership in developing innovative solutions for the next generation of Production Automation and Value Chain Optimization. We are looking for sharp, disciplined, and highly quantitative individuals who have a passion for playing with complex data and cutting-edge technologies, in all its forms, including data mining, mathematical modeling, supply chain optimization, and expert systems. You will leverage your skills and passion for Machine Learning and AI to drive AspenTech's Production and Value Chain Optimization strategy by developing ground-breaking software. Your Impact
Provide technical leadership and collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and software developers to develop new machine learning applications for the manufacturing and processing industries. Collaborate with customers, product managers, and technical staff to develop technology strategies to promote continuous innovation in our Production Automation and Value Chain Optimization offerings. Investigate new and developing technologies as they appear in industry and academia and determine how to leverage these new technologies into our software applications. Provide thought leadership and represent AspenTech at industry and academic meetings and conferences. What You'll Need
Ph.D in Computer Science, Engineering, Operation Research, or a related major; Masters with significant industrial experience can be considered. Deep knowledge of operations research, chemical/oil & gas/manufacturing supply chain management. 10+ years of experience in applying state-of-the-art AI/ML technologies (regression, semi-supervised learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, time series analysis, predictive modeling, data mining, cognitive computing), preferably to planning and supply chain analysis in engineering applications. Strong expertise in non-linear programming, optimization, multivariate analysis. Some knowledge of advanced process control desirable. Highly skilled with Python AI/ML packages, familiarity with C++/C#. Publications in engineering and/or AI/ML conferences and journals preferred. Familiarity with LLM, generative AI, MLops, Graph Knowledge, and cloud technologies preferred. Knowledge of Aspen products in planning supply chain management (AUP, PIMS, APS, SCM) preferred.
