This is a 4 credit hour academic class that meets 4 hours a week usually Monday and Wednesday from 3:30-5:30pm. Class will be held at the University of Utah Sandy Center located at 10011 Centennial Parkway, Suite 100, Sandy, Utah. This is a one semester assignment with possible work in future semesters as needed. Responsibilities 1. Create a class syllabus and share with students at least two weeks prior to the start of the semester 2. Set up class using Canvas, including syllabus and other content that students need to be successful 3. Prepare for each class session 4. Teach each class session 5. Administer quizzes and tests, including a final exam 6. Assign grades to each student 7. Work with the Chemistry Department and main campus instructors as part of a cohort which can include a main campus meeting once a week 8. Other responsibilities as outlined in teaching contract Minimum Qualifications Preferences Qualifications: A master’s degree in Chemistry and previous teaching experience is preferred. PhD in Chemistry preferred. A willingness to work with academic department and current instructors to use same curriculum, similar syllabus, exams and grading methods.
Two or more years related experience University of Utah and/or Higher Education teaching experience Experience working with students and instructors Works well independently Strong written and verbal communication, coordination, and organizational skills, along with the ability to prioritize deadlines, analyze and make informed decisions related to program Computer experience with Microsoft Office, CANVAS , and CIS Special Instructions Summary Additional Information The University is a participating employer with Utah Retirement Systems (“URS”). Eligible new hires with prior URS service, may elect to enroll in URS if they make the election before they become eligible for retirement (usually the first day of work).
