Project Overview:
We’re the Ads Privacy & Safety (APaS) UX team, part of the Company-wide priority to improve user trust. We protect billions of users from being exposed to inappropriate ads (including fraudulent, scammy and offensive ads) and help enforce policies for content related to some of the most pressing issues of our time, like misinformation, hate speech and election ads. We increase user trust by finding user-friendly solutions to today's regulatory environment and giving users agency over the ads they see.
Overall Responsibilities:
This role focuses on strengthening user trust in our company by giving users transparency and control over their Ads experience. You’ll achieve this by conducting Qualitative and Quantitative research to inform ad personalization experiences and building intuitive privacy controls within My Ad Center. We are seeking a strong UX Researcher to be a pioneer in this space, to work collaboratively across Ads teams to develop and launch innovative product concepts.
Top 3 Daily Responsibilities:
Partner with PMs, Engineering and UX to scope and prioritize research needs that will help teams understand user needs, inform product design and strategy.
Work with UX to translate research insights into validated design concepts and cohesive product and experience strategies.
Represent the voice of the user in product team forums helping to build user empathy and ensure product decisions adequately meet user needs.
Mandatory Skills/Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D. preferred) in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Psychology (Cognitive, Experimental, Social), Human Factors, Sociology, Anthropology, or a related field.
Extensive experience: 7+ years of relevant UX research experience (with a Bachelor’s) or 5+ years (with a Master’s) conducting user research in a professional setting.
Proven track record: A portfolio demonstrating experience with a variety of research methods (usability testing, surveys, field studies, A/B testing, statistical analysis, etc.) and impactful contributions to product development.
Research Methods & Skills:
Mixed-methods expertise: Demonstrated proficiency in both qualitative and quantitative research methods, with the ability to seamlessly integrate them to provide holistic insights.
Qualitative skills: Experience with user interviews, usability testing, ethnographic studies, heuristic evaluations, and qualitative data analysis techniques (e.g., thematic analysis).
Quantitative skills: Experience with survey design, A/B testing, statistical analysis, data visualization, and interpreting large datasets to identify trends and patterns.
UX Research tools: Familiarity with a range of UX research tools for conducting studies, analyzing data, and presenting findings (e.g., UserTesting.com, Qualtrics, Google Analytics).
Other:
Communication & Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly and persuasively present research findings to diverse audiences, including stakeholders, designers, and engineers.
Analytical & Problem-solving skills: Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities to identify research questions, design effective studies, and draw meaningful conclusions from data.
Non-Essential Skills/Qualifications:
Experience working in user trust, areas with high sensitivity or regulation, or a deep understanding of the regulatory landscape.
Experience partnering with UXD and Content Strategy to build designs and improve the user experience.
Experience fostering divergent design thinking and shepherding radical ideas that can truly evolve products.
The target hiring compensation range for this role is $77.11 to $85.68 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
