Accounting Specialist
Preti Flaherty, one of New England's largest law firms with offices in ME, NH, MA, and Washington, D.C., is seeking an experienced Accounting Specialist to join the firm's dynamic Finance team. This position is based in our newly renovated headquarters in downtown Portland, ME, and offers an engaging roster of work on behalf of Preti's regional and national clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Accounts receivable for Preti Flaherty, including daily processing and recording of client payments, daily bank deposits, routine reconciliation and reporting, providing AR information to clients and internal staff as requested
- Bookkeeping and accounting functions for the firm's subsidiary, including:
-Preparing monthly financials.
-Reconciling accounts and recording journal entries in accordance with established best practices.
-Payroll assistance.
-Communicating internally and externally regarding account status and related information.
- Backup support and coverage to Finance Department members including tasks related to billing, trust accounting, and accounts payable.
- Reconciling accounts and recording journal entries.
- Preparing financial reports.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Required:
-High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred.
-6-8 years of accounting / finance experience strongly preferred.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
-Positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team.
-High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
-Experience and proficiency with QuickBooks is preferred
