Essential Responsibilities:
  • The Head Coach will serve as a mentor and leader for coaches and players in the club
  • Coach the First Team in all exhibition, regular season, playoff, tournament, international and other games
  • Prepare all games played by the Frist Team, including developing game strategies and supervising the scouting of opposing teams
  • Assist in the scouting and evaluation of potential players for the First Team and in the preparation for the League draft
  • Consult and advise with respect to the First Team's roster and player trades
  • Oversee recruitment, tryouts, selection, training, evaluation and retention of elite players in the Atlanta United Academy.
  • Enforce First Team Rules and League Rules applicable to the First Team's players and/or coaching staff
  • Participate in promotional, sponsorship, and public relations activities as requested upon reasonable prior notice including, but not limited to, ticket, game, First Team and Mercedes-Benz Stadium promotions, clinics, speeches, interviews, photo sessions, public appearances, sponsor activities, and participating in television, radio, and internet programs
  • Partner with technical staff to evaluate and recruit players on the USL and Academy teams (including sitting on the Technical Board for the Academy) and otherwise promote and assist with the development of the USL and Academy teams
  • Other duties and services as assigned by Club
  • Serve as an ambassador on behalf of Atlanta United FC in the US soccer community

Qualifications:
  • Prior coaching experience in MLS or international club
  • Demonstrates ability to teach techniques, tactics, physical and psychological components of soccer
  • Proven track record of developing soccer professionals
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire, motivate and educate players and coaching staff
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong organizational and personal management skills
  • Ability to work a varied schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Knowledge of professional sports teams environments, team operations, public relations, and media responsibilities
