Major Areas of Responsibility Include

  • Set-up and troubleshoot blow molding machines and support equipment.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, monthly and annual scheduled preventative maintenance on machines.
  • Operate Vacuum Loader Systems, automatic Converter System and Sorting Room equipment as required.
  • Assist in Packer/Inspector, Quality Control, Material and Sorting Room operations as outlined in the Job Competencies for the Position of Process Mechanic.
  • Assist and substitute as needed in the materials department.
  • Assist in Mold Inspection as assigned.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Perform screw maintenance activities as required.
  • Perform scheduled mold wipes and remove any excess plastic buildup from machines.
  • Clean blow molding machines and support equipment.
  • Adjust packing stands and bins at the start of shift and as necessary during the shift to accommodate Packer/Inspector requirements.
  • Complete assigned work orders.
  • Maintain currency of set-up sheets.
  • Complete line set-up sheets using proper techniques and forms.
  • Set-up box scales.
  • Attend training classes as scheduled. Successfully complete GSPC Level 1 Certification (EDINB).
  • Maintain all equipment and work areas in a clean and organized manner.
  • Undertake personal responsibility to become, and remain fully qualified to perform all aspects of the position as outlined in the Job Competencies for the Position of Process Mechanic.
  • Follow safety guidelines, Company policies and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Demonstrated strong skills in set-up and repair in the plastics industry strongly preferred.
  • Broad theoretical knowledge and mechanical experience in hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical.
  • Good mathematical skills to perform shop calculations, to include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Strong command of the written language, to include technical manuals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Understand and effectively be able to use Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
  • Ability to read and interpret cap drawings and blue prints, and effectively utilize them in performing job duties, as well as in determining whether the product meets quality standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to make well thought out decisions and ensure appropriate courses of action are taken.
  • Must provide own basic mechanic hand tools to perform the required job duties effectively and as assigned.
  • Vision must be correctable to ’20-20’ to read all necessary work related materials and visually identify defects in products being produced. Must be able to perceive and accurately identify differences in colors and shadings.
  • Hearing acuity sufficient to understand spoken instructions or phone conversations in a factory environment.

Education and Experience

  • 1 to 2 years of mechanical experience required.
  • Industrial Maintenance degree or certificate, or similar education a plus.
  • Plastics industry experience a plus.

· Continuously bend, frequently squat and climb, occasionally crawl and reach above shoulder level, as well as turn, twist, pull, and push

· Climb and utilize ladders and scaffolds

· Have close vision
