We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Accounting Manager to join our fast-paced construction finance team. This permanent full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for month-end processes, financial analysis, financial reporting, and process improvement. This role requires a strong understanding of the construction industry, with a focus on project accounting, general ledger and financial management.
Responsibilities:
As an Accounting Manager, your primary responsibilities will include:
1. Managing and overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, payroll, and utilities. 2. Monitoring and analyzing accounting data and produce financial reports or statements in a timely manner. 3. Establishing and enforcing proper accounting methods, policies, and principles. 4. Coordinating and completing annual audits. 5. Preparing and reviewing monthly reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts, including prepaid expenses. 6. Managing the preparation and distribution of internal financial statements and reports, maintaining the highest quality, reliability, and accuracy. 7. Managing and monitoring all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements. 8. Participating in the ongoing development/establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and system changes. 9. Collaborating with financial management and other management to compile and review financial information for presentations to company’s executives, potential investors, and systems consultants. 10. Supervising the accounting team to ensure the proper functioning of all systems, databases, and financial software.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Accounting Manager role should possess the following qualifications:
1. A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A CPA or CMA certification is highly preferred. 2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the construction industry. 3. Proven experience with financial statement preparation, balance sheet management, and journal entries. 4. Strong understanding of reconciliation processes and financial analysis. 5. Proficiency in using financial software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. 6. Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). 7. Strong ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections. 8. Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills. 9. Proven experience in process improvement and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. 10. Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and organize and prioritize work.
