Jing-Jin Electric (JJE) is a world leader of motor systems and electric drive assembly for new energy vehicles (NEV), covering pure electric vehicles (EVs), plug-in hybrids, and hybrids. JJE employs more than 2,000 employees over the world. We are supporting our North America Operation, an automated production facility, in Farmington Hills, Michigan.

The Hardware Engineer is responsible for traction inverter debugging, testing, and customer support. The role will be responsible to support inverter design optimization, manufacture, and implementation of power electronics. The position will also support production line, debug and root-cause hardware issues. This is an on-site position.

Qualifications, Knowledge:

  • Experience on 300V+ Inverter drives, analog, digital control circuitry.
  • Knowledge on circuit debugging and component selection for control boards and gate drives with switching frequency from 10kHz to 100kHz, power supplies.
  • Experience in hardware testing and debugging following schematics, diagnose, trouble-shoot and analyze root cause of failures; implement effective solutions.
  • Interact with customers, analyze, and implement customer's specifications.
  • Preferred knowledge on schematic capture, component placing and PCB layout using Altium designer.
  • Support design reviews and worst-case circuit analysis.
  • Support validation procedures for DVT and PVP&R.
  • Review BOM and manufacturing packages; propose test to troubleshoot boards.
  • Support manufacturing for most suitable building/assembly processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet customer requirements and objectives.
  • Identify issues or obstacles and work on their resolution.


Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree, in electrical engineering. Minimum 1 years' experience required in testing power electronics modules

Required Experience:

  • Experience in debugging/testing high voltage power electronics.
  • Knowledge and experience in high voltage inverter drives for 100kW plus.
  • Hands on working experience on practical design and analysis of inverters, analog and digital circuits, switching circuits, and mixed signal circuits. Broad knowledge on laboratory testing.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor such as IGBTs, MOSFETs, and SiC devices. Knowledge in gate drive test with switching frequency from 10kHz to 100kHz.
  • Experience in circuit analysis for controllers, gate drive, snubbers, power stage, and power supplies.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of Microprocessors, and DSPs. Infineon, Freescale, TI.
  • Some knowledge in Schematic capture, PCB design layout.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple power electronics projects, and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong teamwork, and excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work independently.
  • Highly desirable knowledge on electric motor control theory.
