Job Summary

Working as a member of the Office of the Chief Data Officer (OCDO), Enterprise Data Quality Team (EDQ), responsible for enabling the efficient and actionable use of data by planning, developing, and implementing enterprise data controls across systems within the Bank with a focus on Risk and Regulatory Reporting under the Data Management Integrated Control Framework (DMICF). Acting as Golden Source Identification and Certification (GSIC) Data Quality Analyst for Agile systems development lifecycle projects, work with a broad range of teams and roles across the organization including teams such as Office of the Chief Data Officer, Americas Risk Management, and Regulatory Reporting as well as roles such as Report Content Owners, Business System Owners, System Managers, project business sponsors, business and technical Subject Matter Expert resources within multiple MUFG entities, project manager, project leads, and IT. This role will further support Data Quality Leads with data analysis, support onboarding efforts for new control points, and support any ongoing monthly collection and reporting process.

Key Responsibilities

Implement control structures to ensure the accuracy and quality of data through all upstream and downstream data channels

Maintain the data governance framework, with a focus on improvement of data quality and the protection of sensitive data through modifications to our policies and standards, principles, governance metrics, processes, related tools, and data architecture

Ensure that data-related business requirements for protecting sensitive data are communicated, well understood, considered as part of operational prioritization and planning

Participate in and contribute to data source identification (lineage), data mapping, functional design and detail design

Support Root Cause Analysis / investigation activities and document results

Ensure adherence to enterprise data standards, quality, and monitoring processes

Support project documentation reviews and testing activities at all levels to include reviews of test plans, test cases, and test scripts; triage and support fixes as necessary.

Identify gaps between current capabilities and new requirements, document design improvements, etc.

Determine data domains, identify in scope key data elements, assessment of rules required and expected.

Defining data quality rules across dimensions that data must conform to.

Identify and recommend new ways to streamline business processes

Research, analyze, and interpret source data as necessary to fulfill business requirements

Identify gaps between current capabilities and new requirements, document design improvements, etc.

Understand and apply familiarity with Risk and Regulatory Reporting processes and Enterprise Metadata concepts such as Key Data Elements, Business Information Model, Report Attributes, Data Attributes, Physical Location, etc.

Performing data analysis including data extraction with standard SQL Tools.

Writing and executing queries to profile large data sets.

Support creation of various project related documentation (including but not limited to BRDs, DRDs, Test plans, Test Scripts, etc.)

Education

Degree or equivalent work experience equally preferable

Work Experience/Functional skills

Some data quality or similar level data analysis experience required

Experience in the banking or finance institutions preferred

Knowledge of industry leading data quality and data protection management practices

Knowledge of data-related government regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues

Knowledge of risk data architecture and technology solutions

Knowledge of relevant laws, legal codes, government regulations, agency rules, and current industry practices

Knowledge of computer software, including relevant applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Experience with formulation of business analytics

Familiar with database management tools (e.g., Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server)

Familiar with data modeling tools

Familiar with data visualization tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau, Collibra Data Quality)

Ability to design processes that make up a data system, and influence engineering and product directions

Ability to interact with external database administrators, data engineers, product managers, business stakeholders, and technology leaders

Ability to analyze large datasets

Ability to write high level technical specifications and comprehensive reports

The typical base pay range for this role is between $87K - $105K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
