Founded in 1993, Shalom Task Force operates with a mission to combat intimate partner domestic abuse, promote safe, healthy relationships, and prevent abuse within Jewish communities. Shalom Task Force fosters a culture of safety and empowerment through prevention programs, educational initiatives, legal services, hotlines, and comprehensive survivor support. Position Overview:

As the CEO of Shalom Task Force, you will lead a dedicated team to fulfill the organization’s mission of preventing and addressing domestic abuse. You will provide strategic vision, operational leadership, and management expertise to ensure organizational growth, sustainability, and impact. The CEO will serve as the primary public representative, fostering relationships with donors, community leaders, and government officials, while ensuring that programs and services are culturally relevant and aligned with community needs. Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Strategic Leadership:

Mission Alignment : Ensure all organizational activities are aligned with Shalom Task Force’s mission to prevent and address domestic abuse within Jewish communities. Visionary Leadership : Develop a compelling vision for the future of the organization and communicate it to staff, advocates, board members, and external stakeholders. Strategic Planning : Set long-term goals and priorities in collaboration with the Board of Directors and key stakeholders to ensure Shalom Task Force remains responsive to emerging needs. Innovation : Identify opportunities for innovation in service delivery, program development, and community engagement to keep the organization at the forefront of the domestic abuse prevention field.

Organizational Management:

Team Leadership : Guide and supervise the senior leadership team directly, fostering a collaborative, accountable, and results-driven environment. Staff Development : Oversee the recruitment, retention, and development of a diverse and talented staff that reflects the organization’s values and goals. Performance Management : Ensure that performance management systems are in place to monitor the success of staff and programs, promoting a culture of continuous improvement. Resource Management : Ensure sound financial planning and fiscal responsibility, including overseeing the budgeting process and ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures.

Program Development and Evaluation:

Program Design : Lead the development and refinement of programs and services that address domestic abuse while fostering healthy relationships within the Jewish community. Impact Measurement : Use data-driven approaches to assess program effectiveness, making adjustments as necessary to improve outcomes. Cultural Sensitivity : Ensure all programs are culturally responsive and meet the unique needs of the diverse communities served by Shalom Task Force. Evidence-Based Practices : Promote the use of best practices in domestic abuse prevention and intervention to guide program design and delivery.

Community Engagement and Partnerships:

Stakeholder Relations and Partnership Development : Build and sustain relationships with key community partners, religious leaders, donors, and advocates to strengthen the organization’s reach and influence. Collaboration : Work with schools, synagogues, and community organizations to implement safety and prevention protocols around domestic abuse. Public Representation : Serve as the public face of Shalom Task Force, representing the organization at events, in media engagements, and through public speaking to raise awareness and promote the organization’s mission.

Government Relations and Advocacy:

Advocacy Leadership : Lead Shalom Task Force’s advocacy efforts by engaging with local, state, and federal government officials to influence policies that support domestic abuse prevention. Legislative Monitoring : Keep informed of legislative and regulatory developments related to domestic abuse and victim services, advocating for Shalom Task Force’s mission and priorities. Government Relations : Build strong relationships with policymakers and government agencies, representing the organization at hearings, meetings, and advocacy campaigns.

Fundraising, Grant Writing, and Grant Management:

Fundraising Leadership : Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies to secure philanthropic contributions from individual donors, foundations, corporations, and government sources. Donor Cultivation : Cultivate and maintain relationships with major donors and foundations, ensuring continued support for the organization’s programs. Grant Management : Oversee the preparation and submission of grant proposals, ensuring that all requirements are met and that grant-funded projects are executed successfully. Compliance and Reporting : Ensure accurate, timely reporting to funders, government agencies, and other stakeholders, providing clear updates on program outcomes and financial management.

Board Relations and Governance:

Board Collaboration : Work closely with the Board of Directors to set strategic priorities, monitor organizational performance, and drive decision-making. Governance Support : Ensure that the Board is engaged and informed, providing them with regular reports on organizational operations, finances, and strategic initiatives. Board Development : Assist in identifying and recruiting new Board members with the skills, experience, and diversity needed to support Shalom Task Force’s mission and governance. Compliance : Ensure that the organization complies with all legal and regulatory requirements, following best practices in nonprofit governance.

Fiscal Oversight:

Budget Management : Oversee the development and execution of the annual budget, ensuring alignment between programmatic goals and financial resources. Financial Health : Work with the finance team to maintain sound financial practices, ensuring transparency and accuracy in financial reporting and compliance. Grant Compliance : Ensure compliance with the financial terms of grants, including timely submission of reports and financial documentation.

Crisis Management:

Crisis Response : Act as the key decision-maker in times of crisis, including financial, operational, or public relations challenges, ensuring the organization responds effectively and with transparency. Risk Mitigation : Identify and address potential risks to the organization’s sustainability, operations, and reputation implementing strategies to minimize harm.

Succession Planning:

Leadership Development : Work with the Board to create a succession plan for key leadership roles, ensuring that the organization can continue its work without interruption during leadership transitions. Continuity Planning : Ensure that contingency plans are in place for unforeseen events, ensuring leadership and operational continuity.

Qualifications: Advanced graduate degree (e.g., MA, JD, PhD) in a relevant field such as social work, public health, law, nonprofit management, or a related area. Proven leadership and management experience in the nonprofit sector, with a track record of driving organizational growth and impact. Deep understanding of the Orthodox Jewish community, its cultural dynamics, values, and traditions. Strong commitment to the prevention of domestic abuse and support for victims and survivors. Experience working with victims of domestic abuse, or related field, demonstrating a sensitivity and understanding of their needs. Extensive experience in grant writing and reporting, with a proven ability to secure and manage diverse funding streams. Excellent communication skills, including public speaking, writing, and media relations. Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including staff, Board members, community leaders, and partners. Willingness and ability to travel for meetings, conferences, and community events as needed. Location:

New York City Salary:
