Position Summary

PSI is the largest privately owned shipyard in Hawaii, with two of the largest dry docks in the state. We have been in business since 1944 and have a large labor force of skilled craftsman with a full support staff of professionals who comprise engineering, project management, QA, EHS, accounting, contracts, and human resources. Ship Superintendent Intern

to play a key role in managing ship repair maintenance projects, including the installation, modification, and repair of complex equipment, systems, and vessels.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Support Project Management:

Assist the Project Manager in ensuring work items and projects are completed on time and within budget. Coordinate with Teams:

Work closely with various crafts and departments such as blast/paint, Structural, Electrical, and mechanical teams to discuss and coordinate production work. Learn and Develop:

Gain in-depth knowledge of shipboard systems, enhance your communication skills, and learn how to coordinate efforts with subcontractors and production team members. Shadow Experts:

Observe and learn from different members of the PMO team. Learn how to estimate, plan, budget, schedule and execute projects.

Education/Training/Skills:

Analytical Skills:

Ability to assess production progress and address challenges with the Project Management and Production teams. Collaboration:

Comfortable interacting with various shipyard departments and government/commercial customers. Organizational Skills:

Capable of planning and coordinating work to create efficient workflows during ship repair activities. Educational Background:

Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, Facilities Engineering Technology, Marine Engineering Technology, International Strategy and Security, or a related field.

Qualification/Requirements:

Strong problem-solving abilities Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to work effectively in a team environment Enthusiasm for learning and taking on new challenges
