Position Summary

Arts & Science is seeking a dedicated Laboratory Assistant to join the Department of Biology. This individual will deliver and/or distribute supplies and equipment to laboratories, following appropriate safety protocol. Set up, take down, prepare, monitor, and store supplies and equipment, as necessary. Provide assistance with maintenance of equipment and/or request repairs, as necessary. Receive, unload, unpack, inspect, and inventory supply and equipment deliveries, including hazardous, radioactive, infectious, and other scientific materials. Reinforce and adhere to safety and safeguarding protocols and maintain cleanliness of laboratories and workspaces.

Qualifications

Required Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent

Required Experience:
1+ year experience in a shipping/receiving or stockroom area. Familiarity with spreadsheet, database and on-line tracking systems.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Individual must be able to physically move and/or lift heavy items.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Familiarity or ability to become familiar with scientific and safety standards, and hazardous materials handling protocol through training.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is USD $33.543. This rate is based on bargaining unit contracts. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
