POSITION SUMMARY
Reports to Vice President Controller. The Accounting Manager will work as part of a team in reviewing the performance of Clients’ and AMM’s fiscal operations on continuous basis. This position includes a variety of responsibilities, from routine accounting tasks to more analytical work related to budgeting, forecasting and financial projections and preparation of financial reports. In addition, this person will be responsible for effectively leading the Accounting team.
RESPONSIBILITIES-DUTIES
- Streamline and automate financial processes for efficiency.
- Ensure all transactions are accurately recorded according to the Company policies and GAAP standards.
- Lead the monthly financial close process, identifying and escalating any issues as required.
- Review and approve journal entries and ensure timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual closings.
- Review and approve monthly balance sheet reconciliations prepared by Accounting staff.
- Assist with the preparation/calculation of complex accounting matters, including IBNR, providers bonus, etc.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly consolidated financial statements in compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards, while analyzing results against prior year, monthly trends, and budget expectations.
- Serve as the primary administrator for the general ledger system and maintain the chart of accounts.
- Act as a control owner for key reconciliations and financial processes.
- Oversee regulatory compliance reporting, including preparation, review and timely filing as required.
- Assist in the preparation of specialized analysis and prepare reports for management or external stakeholders.
- Oversee monthly bank reconciliations, ensuring alignment with the Company’s policies.
- Assist in the audit processes, handling inquiries, and managing data consolidation.
- Develop, implement and enforce strong internal controls.
- Mentor and supervise accounting staff, fostering professional growth and development.
- Manage maintenance of historical records, document and images retention in an organized manner and according to established patterns.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field, from an accredited university.
- Experience in managed healthcare accounting principles i.e. capitation, IBNR, risk pools, RBO reporting.
- CPA license required.
- Experience with ERP conversion is a plus.
- Experience with M&A accounting is a plus.
- Minimum 5 years accounting experience in a paid position.
- Minimum 3 years direct supervisory experience of paid employees.
- Proven ability to manage all aspects of accounting/finance operations effectively.
- Expertise in General Ledger functions and QuickBooks software and Netsuite. Understanding of SQL databases and report writing parameters is required.
- Sound understanding of financial statements (BS, P&L, SCF).
- Proficiency with online banking procedures including account transfers.
- Attention to detail and take ownership of assigned tasks.
- Follow up on assignments, show initiative, be self-motivated, and have a strong work ethic
- Possess strong time management skills, including the ability to prioritize deadlines on multiple projects.
- Produce accurate and high-quality work on time and consistently.
- Be trustworthy and handle extremely confidential and sensitive information and assure that Accounting staff are trained and maintain confidentiality.
- Maintain professionalism in dealing with Clients and AMM Management, particularly regarding sensitive and confidential issues
- Computer literate and knowledgeable in all basic Microsoft Office products, i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
- Effectively interface and successfully cultivate relationships with internal staff, other department managers and various business partners.
- Demonstrated communication, interpersonal, and time management skills. Must be able to make presentations, conduct formal meetings, write business letters and effectively use email to communicate complex ideas.
