Quality Technician
Classification: Nonexempt
Reports to: Quality Manager
Job Description:
The quality technician position inspects materials and processes, analyzing for continuous quality improvement.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Selects products for test at specified stages in production process, and tests for variety of qualities such as acceptable appearance, dimensions and performance.
a. First and Last Piece Inspection
b. 4 Hour Inspection
c. Incoming/Outgoing Material Inspection
2. Identifies non-conforming product and initiates non-conforming reports/documentation according to procedures.
3. Rejects non-conforming parts and notifies Shift Supervisor and Quality Manager upon occurrence. Scrap or quarantine non-forming parts. Has the authority to stop production to correct quality issues.
4. Performs process audits including verification of machine parameters, materials, and operator performance according to written work instructions. Reacts appropriately to out of control conditions.
5. Perform process sign off in between stages of production.
6. Analyze and report shift scrap to Quality Manager.
7. Communicate effectively with others regarding quality related issues, verbally and via email
8. Assist Production as needed. Cover for breaks and lunches as needed.
9.. Maintain hold area and quality lab in a clean and organized manner.
10.. Suggest and implements changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase safety and efficiency of employees.
11. Assist Quality, Engineering and Production personnel with investigations of part defects or any quality related issues.
12. Assist with additional inspections as requested by Quality and Engineering personnel.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. Some of the work will be performed in manufacturing facility where the noise level may be loud.

The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Expected Hours of Work
3rd Shift: 11:00 pm to 7:15 am Sunday -Friday
Required Education and Experience
1. High school diploma or equivalent required
2. Ability to communicate in English and Spanish (written/orally)
3. Ability to perform basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and unit conversions)
4. Comfortable using basic computer software (Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word)
5. Familiarity with basic inspection equipment (Caliper, Micrometer)
